Angie Van Denzen - Social Media Manager

Meet our Social Media Manager, emerging media enthusiast and in-house tech guru, Angie Van Denzen.  Having one of the first 2k modems in her neighbourhood as a child, Angie had a definite head start in the online community, grooming her for a tech-savvy career.

Working in the social media landscape, a field which is still in its early years, it’s Angie’s passion for marketing, communications and her own personal exploration online that makes her suited for this role. Angie notes that in the Social Media world, there are only a handful of experts, who (like herself) are learning, adapting and innovating on the fly. “There are people who think if they know how to use Facebook, and they’re now social media experts” she says, “but there’s so much more to managing a community than knowing how to post a message on Facebook”.

Angie’s task is to keep up with online trends, find exciting ways to share our client’s messages, and to monitor, respond and report on activity occurring on these platforms.  Anything but consolidated, her work is scattered across a variety of different Social Media platforms across the web including Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, blogs, YouTube, Flicker, LinkedIn and Google Places, to name a few.  Of course, there are also desktop applications involved in the behind the scenes work of preparing messages, pitches and reports.

More and more businesses are jumping into this rapidly changing environment, and everyone is trying to find the perfect combination of strategy, technology and content.  In fact, 73% of businesses plan to increase their use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and blogging in 2011, per Social Media Examiner’s State of the Social Media Marketing Industry report.

As social media has only been established as a serious marketing tool for a couple of years, the direction it will head is anything but certain. When it comes to new and exciting changes on the horizon, Angie is ready to usher Circus into a new era.
